In March he will perform in scenes the roles of Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) and Lescaut (Manon).
He is equally passionate about art song and has recently performed in some of the UK’s top recital venues including the Wigmore Hall (Side-by-Side with the Prince’s Consort), the Barbican Hall (pre-LSO recital of Russian song), and the Sage Gateshead (Samling Artist recital). In February 2020 he sang in a series of recitals and masterclasses in St Petersburg and London as part of A Voice Between Nations. In December 2019 he UK premiered Detlev Glanert’s Schatten Schlaffen for BBC Radio 3 in a live concert recording of his music. Whilst studying for a master’s degree, Jonathan has had the opportunity to work with many leading artists such Graham Johnson, Sir Simon Rattle (La Damnation de Faust) and Iain Burnside in a retelling of Schubert’s Swansong and in City of Angels - an exploration of the music of European immigrants who fled to Los Angeles during the Second World War.
He is very grateful to The Sidney Perry Foundation and Cecil Trust for their financial support enabling him to study at GSMD.
